Tramway block switches


Pražská strojírna a.s. manufactures block tramway switches with flexible replaceable blades in a wide range of radii and rail sections. These switches, manufactured for right and left diversions, are used as facing or trailing. They are constructed for use in the most demanding conditions of tramway tracks. They guarantee a high degree of passage safety, quiet function, are ecologically harmless and feature a long lifetime with minimum demands for maintenance. The switch is made of grooved rails of the profile required by the consumer (Ri60, Ri60N, Ri59, Ri59N, Ph37, NP4…). Each switch consists of two half-switches set into the track gauge by means of distance rods. The half-switch is a weldment from the block rail with switch ends from the facing rails of the required section and quality. There is a recess on the weldment for the changeable blade drilled at the machining CNC centres and the corresponding courses of grooves. The changeable blade is made of the rail material or abrasion resistant steel sheets; it is fastened in the block switch with a self-locking wedge. After fastening the blade, the fastening self-locking wedge is secured against accidental loosening with a screw joint. The turnout is either welded on the underlay steel sheet 16 mm thick, by means of which the switch is fastened to the sleepers, or it is provided with the underlay sheet. Both half-switches are heated by heaters that are screwed to the block switch from the side, are replaceable and are laid in a stainless protector. Both half-switches are equipped with covering wedges that facilitate the switch mount in the paving or in other surface modifications.

Tramway switch with flexible replaceable blades


Tramway switches with flexible replaceable blades are made for right and left diversions and can be used as facing or trailing. They are constructed for use in the most demanding conditions of tramway tracks. They guarantee a high degree of passage safety, quiet function, are ecologically harmless and feature a long lifetime with minimum demands for maintenance. The switch is made of grooved rails of the profile required by the consumer (Ri60, Ri60N, Ri59, Ri59N, Ph37, NP4…). Both switch blades (curved and straight) of the switch can be replaced - for replacement, they are fastened with four M20x1,5 bolts and their position is secured with a tongue and groove connection; the bolt heads are secured against spontaneous release. The blades are made in UIC 900 quality or from abrasion-resistant manganese castings with 13% Mn. The weldments forming the basis of the switch are welded to the underlay steel sheet along the entire length. The half-switch rails (stock rails) are tightened to the sides of the frames and the underlay steel sheets with M24 bolts. The rail parts of the blades are tightened to the underlay steel sheets with M24 bolts and their position is fixed.

The switch is made of grooved rails of the profile required by the consumer (Ri60, Ri60N, Ri59, Ri59N, Ph37, NP4…). Both switch blades (curved or straight) are welded; the rail part of the blade is made of the tram rail of the profile and quality defined by the customer, the flexible part of the rail material of quality UIC 900 or another quality. Both parts - rail and flexible - are resistor-welded together. The frames of the half-switches are made as weldments and are welded along the entire length to the underlay steel sheet. The upper plates of the frames form sliding plates for the blades. The half-switch rails (stock rails) are tightened to the sides of the frames and the underlay steel sheets with M24 bolts. The rail parts of the blades are tightened to the underlay steel sheets with M24 bolts.

Lining-up tramway switches


Lining-up tramway switches are made either symmetrically or for right or left branching and can be used as trailing or facing. Lining-up turnouts are used for lining tramway sets into the corresponding branch in a certain necessary distance before the separate rail branching. The axis distance of the travel edges of both branches is 129mm at the switch end (distributed symmetrically from the initial straight direction) and 120mm for the right and left switches. The section of an arbitrary lenght with this given axis distance is linked to this switch. They are constructed for use in the most demanding conditions of tramway tracks. They guarantee a high degree of passage safety, quiet function, are ecologically harmless and feature a long lifetime with minimum demands for maintenance. The switch is made of grooved rails of the profile required by the consumer (Ri60, Ri60N, Ri59, Ri59N, Ph37, NP4…). Both switch blades (curved or straight) are welded; the rail part of the blade is made of the tram rail of the profile and quality defined by the customer, the flexible part of the rail material of quality UIC 900 or another quality. Single-blade tramway switches


Single-blade tramway switches are made for right and left branching and can be used as trailing and facing, primarily in special constructions, such as gridirons in depots. They are constructed for use in the most demanding conditions of tramway tracks. They guarantee a high degree of passage safety, quiet function, are ecologically harmless and feature a long lifetime with minimum demands for maintenance. The switch is made of grooved rails of the profile required by the consumer (Ri60, Ri60N, Ri59, Ri59N, Ph37, NP4…). The switch blad can be replaced. For replacement, it is fastened with four M20x1,5 bolts and its position is secured with a tongue and groove connection; the bolt heads are secured against spontaneous release.
